Boston College at the Rose Bowl?
So there’s a 1% chance that the BC Eagles could be playing USC in the Rose Bowl this January. Normally the Pac-10 and the Big 10 champs play in the Rose Bowl unless it is the National Championship game, like last year, in which case No.1 and No. 2 play each other. The other caveat is if either the Pac-10 or Big 10 champs are contending for the National championship, like OSU this year, they can turn down their Rose Bowl bid and the runner up in that division will play in their stead. This year, since OSU will be playing in Arizona for the championship, most likely USC will be playing Michigan. Unless…
If Michigan finishes No. 2 dispite their loss tonight, they will also be going to Arizona to play OSU in a rematch of today’s game for the National Championship. This means that there is no representative of the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl this year. Then, the ACC Champion will take the Big Ten place in the Rose Bowl. Georgia Tech has already clinched a berth in the ACC championship game. Boston College, depending on what happens next week, may also clinch a berth to the ACC championship game. That means that if BC beats GA Tech and if Michigan can pull out the No. 2 seed in the BCS, then Boston College will be playing in the Rose Bowl this year.
However, I will be in New Jersey this winter speaking at multiple retreats, so I will not be in Pasadena. Ironic? No? Oh well… Knowing the BCS’s gross bias, they probably would try to bend over backwards to put Notre Dame in the National Championship game…
Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait a few years until the National Championship game is played again at the Rose Bowl for me to see BC play in Pasadena…
